Microsoft’s security solution, called Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), will also integrate third party anti-virus software to detect malware on Linux, Android (Google store), MacOS and iOS devices.
Currently Microsoft is working with three anti-virus companies: Lookout, Bitdefender and Ziften. The solutions of these companies will be integrated into Windows Defender ATP, so other platforms can be scanned. Via the Windows Defender ATP console, it is then possible to monitor the status of these other platforms and devices.
Microsoft says that collaboration with Lookout, Bitdefender and Ziften is the first of several new partnerships. The integration of Bitdefender is now tested in the Public Preview of the security software. Lookout and Ziften will follow soon. Windows Defender ATP, announced in March last year, requires Microsoft companies to protect against threats.
